A LETTER TO THE EDITOR
This letter was in the Garden Island, Sunday, July 10, 2016:
Mahalo to the pastor and entire congregation of the Koloa Union Church for the beautiful upgrade they just finished up. While enhancing their parking lot, they were kind enough to offer a wonderful gift to the Koloa Town community with a major construction and tree trimming project that added a lovely and much needed sidewalk along the entire front of their property.
It makes it a much safer place for children walking to Koloa Elementary and the library. The work was done in a first-class manner and everyone passing by benefits from the church’s generosity of community spirit. Koloa Town has long needed a proper sidewalk along Poipu Road.
Could this be the inspirational beginning of a long overdue sidewalk all the way to the traffic circle?

Successful Church Work Day, Saturday July 2
At one point, there were 40 of us cutting sod pieces, digging holes, planting grass, digging trenches! More than 6 hours later, the entire front yard was planted, lawn edging was in and lunch was served! Thank you to all who helped! We could not have accomplished so much without everyone’s help.

There will be no parking allowed on the new parking lot this week until Friday or Saturday. We will be scheduling a volunteer work day for planting and cleaning soon. In the meantime, mahalo nui loa to everyone who made contributions to our capital campaign, which is fully funding this project!
